Eating healthy and sticking to your diet is so much easier when your stomach has no room for junk food. One of the best ways to keep your stomach full, and avoid mindless eating, is by drinking water. Instead of drinking sugary juices or sodas, switch to water. Sugary drinks just lead to more sugary cravings. Water will help you avoid those cravings and will help you feel full.

Experts are always telling us that we need to drink at least 8 cups of water a day. The thing is, it’s sometimes hard to remember to drink your water and get your recommended water. If you’re not thirsty, that makes it even more difficult. We need to train our bodies to crave water instead of sugary drinks. We need to make it a habit and a priority.

Here Are a Few Tips to Help You Drink More Water:

  • Become an expert when it comes to water. Find out how you like to drink your water. Take the time to find out if like cold water, warm water, room temperature water… Do you like tap water, spring water, do you want a water cooler? Take it a step further and add fruit to your water for flavor. Believe it or not, there are so many different ways you could drink your water!
  • Find the right container for your water. Do you want a small glass or bottle that you can re-fill several times a day? Do you want something that will hold lots of water so you don’t need to re-fill it all the time? Do you want metal, plastic, glass? Something simple or something aesthetically pleasing? There are so many different options, find one that fits you and your needs.
  • Bring your water everywhere. Make sure that you are sipping on water all day! Sit a glass on your desk or fill your bottle and take it with you. If your water is where you can see it, you are much more likely to drink it!
  • Before each meal try drinking a glass of water. Your stomach will be able to send a message to your brain that it is partially full already so you won’t overeat during your meal.

There are so many perks to drinking enough water. It’s not just something that helps you lose weight! It hydrates your skin and organs, wards off headaches, helps slow aging, and it helps with the digestion process. Challenge yourself to drinking your recommended amount for 1 week. I bet you will notice a difference!
