What is a vision board and how can it help keep us motivated?
In this post I’m going to answer these questions and explain how to create a Vision Board that reflects your own goals. A visual representation of your goals is a great way to stay on track. Seeing your goals frequently can you keep you motivated and inspire you to keep pushing towards your goals.
What is a Vision Board?
Simply put, a vision board is a visual representation of one (or more) of your goals. Creating a vision board helps you stay focused and motivated on your goals and gives you an idea of how you can pursue and achieve your goals. You can also add some images of what it will look like once you achieve your goals.
Don’t just think health/fitness/weight loss though. A vision board can be a representation of ANY kind of big or long term life goal! Finishing school, buying a home, getting a new job, travelling, etc. Whatever your goal is, a vision board can help you maintain focus on achieving your goal.
How a Vision Board Helps Motivate People
Having a visual representation of your goals allows you to stay focused on your goal. By putting your vision board up somewhere you will see it all the time, you will have a constant, positive reminder of your goals.
You can place your vision board in your bedroom, so you see it first thing in the morning. You can place it on your fridge, so every time you are in the kitchen you can easily see it. You can put it in your bathroom, so when you are getting ready in the morning you have a boost of motivation before heading off to work or school.
Place it somewhere so it can serve as a constant reminder to stay focused.
A vision board is also a great way to clarify your goals and realize the steps that need to be taken to achieve your goals.
How to make a Vision Board.
Making a vision board is incredibly easy and you can do it in several different formats. Find one that works for your lifestyle, and create!
For example:
- Buy a piece of poster board or a push pin board. Use stickers, post-it notes, magazines, print pictures, etc. and create a vision board that resonates with you and your goal.
- Use a program like paint. Copy and paste images, write little notes, etc. And then save the image as your desktop background or print it out and hang it up.
- Create a Pinterest board. Save any pins that are relevant to achieving your goal, motivational quotes, printables or checklists that can help you achieve your goal, etc.
