This past weekend we ran the 5k for Legs for Literacy. My husband and I, and my sister and her boyfriend ran it together. We all beat our times from our last race by a full minute! It felt great and is really encouraging when a run goes so well.
Overcoming fear, one race at a time.
Last week I ran my 7th race of the year, it was my 5th 5k. (the other two races were 5miles) I ran with my husband, my sister and her boyfriend (Becky and Tim).
The Fitness Games – Make workouts fun!
I am always looking for fun and challenging workouts I can do a few times a week. I like changing things up so I don’t get bored. I was able to try a great app called ‘The Fitness Games’ and it has been a lot of fun.
Plant based protein? Yes, please!
I am always looking for the next great tasting protein powder. I have tried lots of different products over the past few years. I had never tried a plant based protein powder until ‘HempPro 70’.
Hemp Pro 70 is a plant based protein powder that comes in two flavours, Vanilla and Chocolate. It is easily mixed by hand which is definitely a plus when you are in a hurry, it’s the only water soluble hemp protein powder available! I prefer to mix my protein powder in with a smoothie so I get the added benefits of fruits and coconut milk, making a delicious breakfast or lunch in a snap.
Each serving has 30g of protein and 3.4g of omega 3 & 6 with just 140 calories per serving. You can check out the HempPro site and find lots of yummy smoothies to try too!
My favourite between the two flavours was the chocolate. (let’s be honest, my favourite is chocolate 90% of the time!) I really like the fact that they are non-GMO and are a more natural protein powder option.
*I received a sample in exchange for an honest review, all opinions stated above are 100% my own.*
Hampton 5 Miler
This past weekend we completed our second 5mile race in Hampton, NB. I ran it with my sister Becky, her boyfriend Tim, and my Fiance ‘Person’. It’s called the ‘Hampton 5 Miler’ and we did awesome! I’m so proud of us.
5 Mile Dash at Dusk
This run was very intimidating. My sister and her boyfriend and me and my fiance all ran this together. None of us had ever run this much before, our previous distance was only 5k, so to add 3k more onto that without any training was a little scary.
Emera Marathon by the Sea
This past Sunday I ran my 3rd timed 5k at the Emera Marathon by the Sea.
Before the race, there was the singing of the national anthem, and then a moment of silence for Cst. Douglas James Larche, and the other two RCMP officers that lost their lives in the line of duty on June 4th. The first mile of the run was ‘The Red Mile’ honouring Cst. Larche. There were several RCMP and police officers present. It was very emotional.
